NORTHROP SCHEDULING PROCESS FOR INCOMING 9TH GRADERS

Students, Parents, and Guardians:

Northrop students must make important choices by selecting the courses they will take the following school year.  The Course Description Handbook will assist in familiarizing students and parents with the many educational opportunities at Northrop High School. This is located on the following websites:

http://home.fwcs.k12.in.us and http://northrop.fwcs.k12.in.us

The online course book will explain available courses, course sequences, graduation requirements, and athletic eligibility. This will assist parents and students as they establish educational goals.  Northrop teachers and counselors are good sources for course selection recommendations. We encourage all students to challenge themselves with a rigorous schedule to better prepare for the future.

The Northrop page and Edline also have the course elections sheets that you may choose to print. Please make sure to complete the course election sheet for 9th grade year. Turn in the form following your school’s directions by the date given. If you do not fill out a schedule, we will fill one out for you!

Students may also check out a CD or course book from the media center or the guidance office for a short period of time.  The process is the same as checking out any book. Please carefully read the information before completing the election sheet

The completed student election sheets determine the staffing needs and courses taught for the next school year.  Student schedule changes will be permitted through Friday, May 31.  Complete a course change request form from the guidance office before that date. It is very important that students and parents/guardians review the schedule that students will receive in May.  After Friday, May 31, no schedule changes will be made.

The Academic Honors, Technical Honors and/or Core 40 diplomas should be a goal of every Northrop High School student. Criteria for obtaining either of the diplomas can be found on the opening pages. We will make every attempt to notify you via the school newsletters, Edline and the school webpage if the State of IN makes changes.

Sincerely,

Cheryl Strader, Assistant Principal
